SAVE International Asia Regional Event Recap: Value Engineering Learning Session 4

The SAVE International Asia Region organized its quarterly virtual event “Value Engineering Learning Session.” The event served as a forum to discuss how VE practices can be advanced in the region, connect with VE experts in other countries, and to acquire more knowledge on how VE techniques are applied in different disciplines through sharing of case studies and best practices.

Thirty-eight participants from Hong Kong, China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Nigeria, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates attended the fourth session held on December 9, 2022.

Mr. Marc Pauwels, SAVE International Director of Global Affairs and Co-President of Krehl & Partner, presented his opening thoughts on Supplier Integration. A very informative discussion followed the presentation.

Dr. Roy Woodhead, Senior Lecturer in Digital Education at Sheffield Hallam University and Former SAVE International VP Education, was invited as a speaker to present on “Functionality Models and Complex Technologies.” The presentation entailed a vast scope of various function models and technologies ranging from Heidegger and technology to Aristotle and teleology. The main messages such as ‘Searching effectiveness before efficiency’ and ‘Our inner experiences are a part of bringing things into existence,’ were well delivered and resonated during the session amongst the participants.

The Q&A session was engaging and interactive. It was evident that the participants were eager to execute the knowledge gained in their respective careers.
