Certification Forum: Remember to Convert Your AVS to the New VMA Certification

By Bob Rude, PE, CVS-Life – Chairman, SAVE International Certification Board

In the last few weeks, we have been fielding numerous questions about changing your Associate Value Specialist (AVS) certification to the new Value Methodology Associate (VMA) certification. Again, we want to make you aware that in the next couple years the use of the AVS designation will end.

Last year we started a program to convert existing or expired AVS certifications to the new VMA. This program continues and we want everyone to be aware that you need to convert your AVS to the new VMA soon.

The new VMA certification does not require recertification; it requires an annual fee of $50 USD for SAVE International members or $500 USD for non-members. In addition, there will be a continuing education requirement of one SAVE e-learning course per year.

As a current or previous holder of the AVS certification, you worked hard to gain this recognition. The SAVE Certification Board recognizes your interest in the Value Methodology and has enhanced the program to increase the value of your certification.

If your AVS certification has expired, the SAVE Certification Board is offering you the opportunity to reinstate your entry-level certification to the new VMA certification. If you are interested, please complete the online VMA application and pay the appropriate application fee ($50 USD for SAVE members or $500 USD for non-members). You do not need to retake the exam. Once your application and payment are submitted/processed, your SAVE profile will be updated.

If you are a current AVS and would like to transfer to the new VMA certification, please complete the online VMA application and pay the appropriate application fee ($50 USD for SAVE members or $500 USD for non-members). You do not need to retake the exam. Once your application and payment are submitted/processed, your SAVE International profile will be updated.

Again, this applies to expired and existing AVS certifications. If you know of others who have let their AVS expire, please let them know they can reestablish their certification as a VMA.
