President’s Message – August 2017

Thank you, all! It has been my honor to serve the value profession. As I complete my term of office, let me recognize those who have made this participation in the society fun, interesting and productive.

  • Thank you, Kathy Bethany, for your clear and decisive approach to society business, your willingness to devote your retirement to SAVE International – and for entertaining us with real data as “The Pivot Queen”.
  • Thank you, Steve Kirk, for your vision and your tireless energy to design and complete our new value training, manage the development of the Function Analysis Guide, and lead the College of Fellows.
  • Thank you, Muthiah Kasi, for taking on the role of editor-in-chief of Value World to rejuvenate and bring new talent to our publication, and for leading the development of internationally-recognized value standards through ASTM.
  • Thank you, Drew Algase, for your vast knowledge of global affairs, and the history of decisions made by the SAVE and Certification boards – your two cents and humor are always welcomed by your colleagues.
  • Thank you, Rod Neilsen, for bringing our financial profile and business processes up to their new high standards.
  • Thank you, George Obaranec, Michael Pearsall, Maripat Traino and Karen Crawford for the ingenuity, creativity and detail-oriented mindset you have brought to our value summits.
  • Thank you, Terry Beuthling, for leading our honors and awards program for the past seven years. You are a gentleman who seeks improvements to our process ensuring our compatriots are recognized for their many contributions to the society and the profession.
  • Thank you, Jim Bolton, for twisting my arm to get me back in the game and for your years of service to the society.
  • Thank you, Ginger Adams, for introducing us to a truly professional approach to facilitation; and to developing SAVE’s very first Knowledge Nugget.
  • Thank you, Bob Rude and John Robinson, for your absolute devotion to improving the certification process. Your efforts and those of your Certification Board colleagues have created changes that will impact the value profession for generations to come – in a great way!
  • And, thank you, Melissa Baldwin and Joe Sapp and all of Talley Management Group, for helping SAVE members daily, professionally managing our society, elevating how we do business, dealing with my micro-management style, and giving us renewed energy and excitement for our society!

Volunteerism is rewarding, and I encourage the next generation to jump in! SAVE International needs you!
