By Dr Sonal ShivagundeWestern Zonal Council, Indian Value Engineering Society (INVEST)

The SAVE International Asia Region organized its quarterly virtual event “Value Engineering Learning Session,” an initiative to facilitate sharing of case studies, best practices and new learning in VE in the region. The third session was held on September 30, 2022 and over 35 participants attended from Hong Kong, China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Nigeria, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Mr. Raghvendra Rao was invited as a speaker to present on “Best Practices in Cross-Functional, Multi-Location Value Engineering Projects.” The presentation comprised of nine best practices related to challenging projects. These were also presented at the SAVE 2022 Value Summit in Arizona.

The event was conducted according to the following agenda:

  1. Welcome
  2. Initiation Session – Videos from SAVE President
  3. Opening Presentation – Mr. Marc Pauwels
  4. Technical Presentation – Mr. Raghvendra Rao
  5. Q&A
  6. Conclusion

We are happy to receive many positive comments from the participants, such as:

  • “My rating to both the presentations: 10/10”
  • “Thanks for walking us through the VE Best Practices. For the benchmarking or negotiation opportunities for Mech Parts – cost comparison based on weight will be the right approach rather than not considering Volume and design complexity/risk”
  • “Excellent presentation Mr. Marc Pauwels and Mr. Raghavendra Rao”
  • “Very insightful talk. Thank you! Teardown and benchmarking against the competitors are very useful.”
  • “Thanks, Rao, for new thoughts and approach on benchmark analysis practice and function base benefits.”
