OMB Requiring Agencies to Back Up Budget Requests with Evidence

On June 30, 2021 the U.S. Government Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released a memo directing agencies to show evidence and program performance metrics to back up their budget requests.

The memo states “OMB expects that agency budget requests will be justified by evidence to the extent possible. When such justification is not possible, that suggests an area where more or better evidence should be built.

SAVE International members, particularly those in the U.S. and who deal with government agencies and customers, are encouraged to write their congressmen about this new requirement and mention Value Engineering specifically as an offset to budgets.
