President’s Message – June 2018

By Katherine Bethany – President, SAVE International

Howdy Y’all” –

I am practicing my Texan greetings to get ready for our SAVE International Value Summit in Austin, Texas in just over one week. I am not sure I can manage the proper southern U.S. drawl in my voice, though. But given that the participants at the Summit come from all over the U.S. and the World, I’m sure they won’t care (or maybe won’t even know what a southern drawl is…).

Anyhow, I hope many of you will see me and many other Value colleagues in just a few days. I am “ready and rarin’ to go” to hear the many interesting papers, celebrate your successes, catch up with old friends, and listen to your concerns and “keep up the good work” stories.

The Value Summit is always bittersweet for me – it is time to say hello to new Board members and to thank those who are leaving the Board for their wonderful service. This year is especially impactful as we are also going to begin to operate under our new Bylaws. (Thank you everyone who voted, and thank you for the clear acceptance of the recommended changes.) With the new Bylaws, the new Board of Directors should be able to respond to your needs and desires in a timelier fashion.

Speaking of the new Board direction, one item I plan to ask the participants at the annual business meeting and at the Summit is what are your top three items that you would like for SAVE International leadership to focus on in the coming year. If you are not going to make the Summit, please send an email to the business office at info@value-eng.org with your top three items.

Y’all Come Back Now, Ya Hear!
